Configure DHCP Server in Cisco Switch

 

This is a quick tutorial on how to configure DHCP server in Cisco Switch. There are so many reason that you would need DHCP Server or Services running in your Cisco switch.  Following can be the reasons

 

• Small Network – Where you have less than 5 or 10 users in office and have no internal or Hosting services in house. Just a switch and internet and your desktops.
• Medium Network – Where company do have different application server in house but does not want to buy dedicated Microsoft DHCP Server, and it’s not recommended to co-resident DHCP server with any 3rd part application server. In this case you configure DHCP in Cisco Switch.

Above are largely the reasons where i do not see any need of having dedicated DHCP server. In this case the best way to run the show is to configure DHCP in Cisco switch.
